- Low Tread Depth
UK law requires a minimum tread depth of 1.6mm across the central ¾ of the tyre. If your tyres are below this, they are illegal and unsafe.
Quick Tip: Use a 20p coin — insert it into the tread. If the rim around the edge of the coin is visible, your tread is too low.
- Cracks or Bulges
